Hi Mama Bears,
I really hope you are staying physically and mentally healthy. Yes, the summer has drawn to a rapid close, all too soon as usual, and we were very limited in what we could do. Working from home while practicing social distancing isn’t the best for our mental health or social skills.
But don’t worry; hopefully this madness will come to an end soon. In the meantime, I put together a list of self-care tips you could follow while you survive quarantine life.
Journal
Journal writing is an amazing way to express your inner self. Sometimes we are unable to communicate how we truly feel verbally and need a “more private” outlet. If you struggle with journaling in a blank notebook, there are tons of journals that can inspire you with positive affirmations and quotes.
Join a Book Club
Escape COVID-19 by reading an awesome story or two. Participating in an online book club is a great way to not only connect with other like-minded people but also expand your mind.
Check out one of my favorite virtual book clubs, By Her Own Rules.
Disconnect
Allow yourself a moment to turn off from the world. Disconnect from the news, social media, and even enjoy a PTO day (or two) to get away from work demands.
Binge-watch a series on Netflix or watch movies back-to-back. Put the phone down, shut the computer, and allow yourself some time to decompress.
Take an Online Class
It’s never too late to learn something new!
No more excuses. Now is the time to take that online class you’ve been meaning to take. Whether to get more knowledge for your career, to start a business, or simply learn a new language. Use this time to your advantage.

Organize your Space
Organize your closet. Decorate your workspace. Clean out the pantry. Declutter your space.
Take this time to be productive in clearing out things that don’t belong and adding items that will improve your overall mood. After all, you have to look at 24/7 right now.
Go for a Walk
At the beginning of COVID I was in the house all the time; between work and kids with the virus, I never left the house. I was glued to the computer or doing chores. During my time working in the office I would walk forty-five minutes a day just to get away from my desk. At home, one day I said enough was enough and started to walk again. The kids even tagged along. While I was only doing twenty to thirty minutes due to the heat, it was so relaxing and peaceful to get out and enjoy the Vitamin D. It can do wonders for your mood and energy for the rest of the day.
For the best mood changer, go early morning (before noon) or after sunset.
Get Creative
Have you always wanted to learn to paint, design a T-shirt, learn and do interior design? Quarantining at home is the perfect time to start that creative hobby you have always wanted to do.
Cook More
No more are you surrounded by the temptation of easy access to fast-food or takeout. Instacart makes it super easy to do your food shopping online in a matter of a few clicks with a same-day delivery option.
Outside of health benefits, cooking can also be relaxing and calming, along with tapping into your inner creative side.
Indulge in a Skincare Routine
Time to enjoy some overdue me time on a regular basis. Each week plan time to give yourself facials, pedicures, bath nights, etc. Don’t worry about the kids or the hubby, they will be fine without you for an hour or so.
Your body needs it, your skin deserves it.
Connect with Others
We all have those friends and family we haven’t spoken with in years, because we’ve been too busy with our day-to-day lives. Now is the time to catch up with the long-losters. Spend Zoom time with people outside your comfort box.
