No money needed, only time. Your frustration days are over with trying to get readers to your site. We share our favorite, free and simple tips on how you can increase traffic to your blog.
1. Consistent posting
This is the big conundrum in the blogging field, because you write and write and realize “Why am I writing so much for when no one is listening reading?”. Whether you have one follower or one thousand, be consistent. Post new content at least twice a week on your blog. Google favors websites with fresh content.
2. Catchy title
Make a promise and stand by it. Your title should mention the problem to attract your readers and the content should offer a solution.
3. Know your audience
Don’t talk about fashion on your blog if your target market is health and wellness.
4. Photo-friendly
No one wants to read content all day. Include photos and videos with your blog posts.
5. Share the love
Don’t just house your blog on your blog. Promote it on your social platforms. Once a month send out your top blogs in an e-mail blast asking others to share the love. Have Share buttons on your blog.
6. Share your past content
It’s okay to promote old stuff, especially with Twitter. Twitter is so flooded with information that it’s easy for your blog promotions to get overlooked. You should be posting at least three times a day on Twitter.
7. Easy is better
Don’t overthink the content for your blog. This should be fun not stressful. The only thing that should be stressful is staying on deadline to write two blogs a week. Don’t let the content stress you out. If it does then “take it behind the barn and shoot it” as per Kevin O’Leary.
8. Welcome a guest
Never be afraid to invite someone over for dinner and allow them to do the dishes. In other words, invite another blogger to your blog and have them write an article. In return, this person will not only give you content, but will share it, and ultimately your blog, with his/her network.
9. Promote your blog
Tell the world that you have a blog, literally, tell the world. Add your blog link to your e-mail signature, social profiles, LinkedIn account, and tell your friends and family. Attend networking events with your target readers and tell them as well.
10. Be proactive
Locate your readers and provide them with a solution. Don’t just sit back and wait for them to come to your blog. Go to where your readers are and tell them what your blog offers.
Finally, no matter what your numbers are, never give up. Never stop writing!
