The 2018 Oscar Awards have come and gone and we have you covered with the red carpet fashion, winners, and even a little scandal (no, not the amazing Shonda Rhimes show).
PRE-OSCAR SCANDAL
You cannot have a good awards show without a little scandal and this time, it revolved around America’s poster boy, Ryan Seacrest. The host who seems to be everywhere, from radio to daytime to the newly revamped “American Idol” is a staple on the red carpet. He greets the guests and asks the age-old question “who are you wearing?” Unfortunately, not everyone wanted to greet Seacrest with open arms for this awards show.
Just a few days ago, he was accused of sexual misconduct and “Scandal” star Bellamy Young suggested that Seacrest should not be on the red carpet. Jennifer Lawrence also seemingly noted that she did not know if she would want to interact with the longtime E! red carpet feature. Tarana Burke, the founder of the #MeToo movement, suggested that Seacrest step aside for the evening but he did not. It has alluded that celebs associated with the E!, NBCUniversal, Disney and ABC networks were told to speak with the “Live With Kelly and Ryan” co-host. Should Ryan Seacrest been on the red carpet or should he have taken the night off?
FASHION
The red carpet may have been scandalous but the outfits were not to be missed. White and cream were the themes of the evening and the best dressed were:
Margot Robbie in Chanel
Rumor has it that her amazing dress ripped but the nominee found a sewing kit and stitched herself back up.
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior
Glitter to the max; shining bright like a diamond.
Viola Davis in Michael Kors
I love seeing celebs in bright colors and this pink number accentuated all of her amazing features while complimenting her dark skin tone.
Common in Armani
He’s one handsome piece of man candy in a traditional suit.
Mary J. Blige in Versace
White again! This was the color of the evening and I was living for it.
BUT…there were some celebs I was just not living for. The worst dressed were:
Whoopi Goldberg
Points for switching up the traditional black and going for color but she had a whole lot going on and it was a whole lot of not good.
Andra Day
It’s like she took down some drapes, found Cinderella’s mice, fired them and attempted to make a dress on her own. And she’s gorgeous so why?
Salma Hayek in Gucci
It looks like she was playing dress-up with daughter, Valentina and forgot to change into her Oscar dress.
St. Vincent
I have no words.
ULTIMATE LEGEND- Jane Fonda in 44 Francois Premier. Gorgeous. Just simply stunning, proving that you can get better with age!
Onto the awards!
