I want to start a business, but I have no skills. What should I do?
I get asked this question all the time. How to start a business with no time, no skills, and no money?
The best solution is to start a business with skills you are already using daily. In this article, I share with you 6 businesses you can start overnight with the skills you already have. I am a huge advocate of starting a business by doing something you love—a passion business. A passionate business will keep you going through the challenges and obstacles many entrepreneurs face, especially in the beginning.
For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a writer. When I was growing up, I would write everything from books to poetry, emails to notes and letters, everything. I later learned in life that writing could be a business. And I immediately fell in love with entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship comes in many facets, not just Fortune 500 companies, storefronts, malls, etc. You can turn any skill or hustle you have into a business.

Here are my picks for six businesses you can start overnight with the skills you already have:
1| MEAL PREP FOR FAMILIES
Most women would love for their families to eat healthier and/or more frequently, but time is just not on their side, so they grab whatever is in the fridge or order takeout. For me, I’ve gotten better with meal prepping for my children, but I still struggle when it comes to my fiancé and me. Then there is that part where, for a family of three or more, you run into the problem of everyone eats differently. This brings me to the business idea: If you are great at meal prepping and eating a balanced, heart-healthy diet, you can start a business helping other families do the same. You can launch a website, market in Facebook groups, and grow your client list. You can charge X amount for a monthly customized calendar and include an add-on that you will do the grocery shopping for them (weekly) via Instacart. Customers can sign up for a monthly plan, a three-month, or a six-month plan.
2| ORGANIZATIONAL COACH
There are trainers, therapists, business coaches—yes, organizational coaches are a real thing. Some people are annoyingly gifted at being super-organized. This, too, is a great business you can start overnight. You can help not only families get organized but other entrepreneurs and ordinary singles or couples as well. People are busy, and we neglect things we shouldn’t for lack of organizational skills.

3| ENTREPRENEURIAL CUSTOMER-SERVICE TRAINING
Okay, let me be honest here, there are several people I would sign up right away for this training program. In the beginning, most entrepreneurs are great at what they are doing and producing the services/products that customers needed. However, they neglect the customer service side of running their business. They need help. If you have great people skills, listening skills, can think calmy during difficult times and develop solutions, then running a customer-service program for new entrepreneurs is right up your business alley.
4| STARTUP BUSINESS WRITER
Businesses are popping up everywhere, left, and right. Newbie entrepreneurs again often forget the administrative side of running a business. Aside from customer service, there are types of writing that are necessary for running a business. You can totally change the name, but a startup business writer would provide writing services for entrepreneurs that would assist with writing contracts, invoices, policies, non-disclosure agreements, media kits, and more.
5| BUSINESS SHOWER PLANNER
Let’s make #businessshowers a thing. I am sure you’ve seen the memes or tweets before. But yes, we totally should. Forget the days of planning only baby showers, bridal showers, and birthday parties. Let’s plan business showers to help women build their businesses. If you love hosting events, having a good time, love seeing others have a great time, then this business could be for you. Business showers will not only bring you great profit but also be happy to see others’ businesses thrive.
6| SUPPORT BUDDY FOR KIDS
Okay, honesty moment #2 here: Our poor children are heading back into dens of fire by returning to school. We never know what is going to happen; each day is different. We can only imagine the stress and anxiety they must feel, especially the little ones. During these times, we could all use the extra support and a listening ear for when the days seem long. So could our children, especially the ones who require a little extra attention. If you love chatting with children, offering them an ear—being the Big Sister without the title—this could be a great opportunity for you. A virtual support buddy to offer children (with parents’ permission) one-to-two-hour weekly sessions of chat-time. You can help them with schoolwork, play games, journal, coloring, talk about the day, and give them an overall safe space to have social interaction, freedom of feeling, and a true pillar of support.
