Kyla Nicole is a certified life coach completing a PhD in Law and Public Policy. Studying for a major geared toward law, Kyla Nicole’s life took a swerve in a bit of a different direction when she found her true calling as a life coach. Kyla Nicole admits while she’s never actually put a hold on pursuing law as a profession, life coaching is her one true passion. She always envisioned herself as a life coach, she notes, however she didn’t imagine she’d be actively advising others in such a manner at such a young age. Kyla’s impressive pursuit and completion of her first e-book, 15 Ways to Improve Your Reality (which she wrote in a mere three months!), was her wake-up call, and since then she has been not only involved in law, but also life coaching.
Kyla now inspires and motivates others, and has gained a following digitally, as she continues to push others to live happy and fulfilled lives, serving as a guide and walking version of the best self we can all be!
With your education background one would think your primary focus is legal with a B.S. in Criminal Justice, an M.S. in Corporate Organizational Communication, a PhD in Law and Public Policy (2016), so what made you transition to become a life coach?
I never really stopped doing law. I currently work for a company. I always thought I would do life coaching, but always thought it would be when I was like fifty! I was going to go to law school, be an attorney, do policy analyst work, and keep it moving. I switched to a PhD because I realized I didn’t want to wait ten years to do what I wanted to do. I wrote my first book in ninety days. I knew that this was my purpose, and the movement began to grow. I realized I couldn’t do all I wanted to do by just working in the company. After talking to my dad I realized I could do both, and thought why not? I began to work on my goal, started up my nonprofit, and put together my business, bit by bit.
As a life coach what motivates you to help others?
I desire wholeness and purpose for the lives of others. My hope is that I can inspire others to “not be” what society says they should be. I truly live a happy and whole life and I want that for others.
In today’s economy and overall general craziness of the world, what can one do to avoid a series of burnouts?
I think it’s important to recharge often. Take time to invest in yourself, enjoy thirty minutes to yourself at a minimum each day, go on vacations, etc. Schedule time to sit with yourself and evaluate yourself. You have to be full inside and 100 percent. That takes “me time.” I took two to three vacations this year and New York is my favorite place to visit.
How do you balance all your ventures?
I’m a huge planner. I am not sure what I would do without a planner! I also set a to-do list daily to ensure I’m only doing tasks that need to be done. This keeps me on track.
What is the biggest challenge you face and how do you overcome it?
My biggest challenge is saying no and not overcommitting. I have such a big heart that I sometimes have to remind myself it’s okay to not accept everything. What’s for me is mine; it’ll come back so no need to rush.
Tell us something you learned from writing a book that came by surprise.
I learned to be transparent and patient with myself. The book process is so enjoyable if you do it. For me, I was led by God to discuss some real issues. That helped me not only discover me but also helped me to build a platform.
For an entrepreneur who may be able to avoid legal services for a little while, at what point should they make that phone call?
Honestly, right away. You always want to try and gain as much knowledge or advice as you can to make sure your brand is protected. That’s essential. If you can’t afford it, make sure you’re protecting yourself as much as you can. Use Google alerts to check your post and name and try to get as much product with your name on it so it’s easily proven that you are you.
What does Kyla Nicole do for passion and what does she do for profit?
Goodness, at this point I do it all for passion. I love everything about my life and what I do. I’m grateful for what I’ve been blessed to do and I believe it’s a bonus to receive income from it.
As a lawyer and life coach do you offer packages where someone can discuss contracts and then vent about personal issues in the same call? LOL
Ha ha! I’ve never combined the packages; maybe I should consider that! Typically, they are different sessions.
Does your Project Life Coaching services help small start-ups work as a team to build and provide support?
Yes, I am able to do all of that.
Is there a level of privacy and confidentiality that comes with being a life coach?
Absolutely. In regards to contracting I always sign confidentiality agreements. Now, I certainly keep my private life private. A level of me is transparent because I am my brand but at the same time I preserve certain things for me and those involved. It’s important to cherish sacred moments so that you feel a sense of normalcy.
You’re currently rebranding Kyla Nicole. What’s next for you and the business side?
Currently I’m writing an e-book, going toward a new direction regarding reaching a new audience, and I’m launching a new product line and soon I’ll be producing a conference call where it’ll be an empowerment session every Sunday. Stay tuned for the advertisements.
