We are so excited to partner with Dr. Walter Hidalgo with a goal of being more socially aware. Here, he answers your questions and shares advice on life and wellness while living in a social media driven world.
DEAR THE VIRGO GIRL,
My New Year’s plan is to travel more. I want to travel to a new place starting within my surrounding city limits at least once a month. How can I realistically get this promise to myself without letting time and finances become an obstacle.
Advice from Dr. Walter Hidalgo:If you want to be realistic about traveling consistently without letting both time and finances get in the way then consider starting small. In other words, instead of traveling once-a-month consider doing it every three months (that’s 4X a year). That way, you can plan ahead while putting money aside. There are several apps like Acorn that takes your money and reinvest it into the stock market so you can save it while growing it (and you can take out any amount you want at anytime). Also, tax season is a good time to put some money aside into a future trip. All in all, you have to get in the habit of putting money aside in the same way you do in the event of an emergency. Traveling is something I encourage everyone to do so treat it like an investment (toward yourself) and plan accordingly.
