Spring is here! Warmer weather, longer days, Easter, flowers and everything that renews your energy comes out in the spring. I’ve compiled seven tips to help you spring clean your business.
You may be thinking…why do I need to spring clean my business? My focus should be on growing my business. Yes, very true! However, in order to grow your business sometimes you have to take a step back and review your process, organization and strategy as a whole.
Spring Cleaning your business is like any other cleaning project, you want to get rid of the old, bring in the new and dust off that favorite outfit (piece) you forgot about.
So, before another kid interrupts me about extended bed-time; here are my seven tips to spring clean your business.
1. Declutter your Office Space
Some people have a system that works with stuff being a hot mess all over the place, but with all this technology most if not all your paperwork should be available online. Your workspace is your motivation. Your space feeds your energy, if it’s looking cluttered you will feel overwhelmed before even sitting down. Spring clean that office space.

2. Review your Goals
Schedule a meeting with yourself to revisit what your goals were this Jan and what you want to accomplish by the summer. It’s okay if they’ve changed. It’s okay if you haven’t accomplished any. This is why you’re here to do it now. Decide what you want moving forward and action plans to get you there.
3. Clean up on Aisle “Blog/Website”
While you’re spring cleaning your desk, your goals, make sure to include your digital storefront. Your blog/website could use some dusting as well. Ensure your plug-ins are up-to-date, make sure your website links are still active. If you have the time, spring clean the home page with a facelift by changing the color or images. For your template images, start using new ones. Brand identity is important and nothing helps building a brand than high quality visuals.
4. Dust off the old Marketing Strategies
Are your marketing strategies working as well as you would like? Are you seeing results? Ask your business: what is working and what isn’t working? What needs to change; how can you reach a bigger target audience for minimal costs? Create a new marketing plan.
5. Organize your Inbox
Emails can be overwhelming within itself. Use this time to organize your inbox. Delete emails you don’t need. Filter your emails by categories. Save emails you need to the appropriate folder. Unsubscribe to junk emails that you are no longer interested in. Create an automatic reply to confirm you received the email, but also to let potential customers/clients know when to expect to hear from you. Update your signature box with current information and links.
6. Process to Scale your Business
Think about your current process and ask your team or people that work closely with you for feedback. Review your testimonials to see what people loved and what they thought could have been done better. Review your process from A to Z of how your business is run and think about is there a better way to do this; an efficient way?
And lastly….
7. Get Tax Ready
We dread it, but spring also brings the infamous tax deadline of April 18th. Get your expenses and receipts ready to file your taxes. Take it from me who had to learn the hard way, ensure you are making quarterly payments, keeping up with your sales tax, profits and losses from all payment platforms.
