Sewing for a Cause #Bullychasers, says Ify Ufele on her Instagram page as she designs yet another piece. The ten-year-old fashion designer is taking a stand against bullying in a unique and creative way. Ufele a student in Queens, New York was repeatedly picked on by her peers for being a different size. So much so that she didn’t want to attend school any longer. From name calling, her lunch being dropped on the floor, to even being stabbed with a pencil, Ufele stayed strong. “I turned negative attention into positive attention”, she says. As a creative outlet, Ufele started to hand-sew clothes for her dolls and eventually learned to create designs for all sizes; adults and children, says her grandmother. She started her own clothing line Chubiiline. Appearing at New York Fashion Week, Ufele is the only child designer to create designs for plus size models at New York Fashion Week. She is inspiring many and her collection will continue grow.
TAKE THAT BULLIES!
I personally am totally feeling this girl and glad she is taking the positive road to setting bullies straight. #TeamChubiiline all the way!
