Hello Again, Creative Bugs

Hello Creative Bugs,

Welcome to my “new blog”!

Goodness, I can’t even recall how many times I’ve written that. The first blog I ever had was back in . . . damn! I can’t even really recall. Let’s just say I started blogging back when blogging wasn’t a “thing” as it is now. Blogging to me has always been a platform to share inspiration and motivation with a side of a place to vent about the day-to-day madness we endure. For the past year I’ve been on a blog hiatus, and on a journey of self-discovery, trying to create the perfect life-balance. After taking this year to try to find the answers, one thing I can tell you is that the perfect balance does not exist. When you are winning at one thing, you are failing at two others and vice versa. The journey to balance is a roller-coaster ride of emotions that we can’t let get the better of us.

Why have I been gone a whole year?

Some would say that when you’re going through something that is the best time to write. Yes, true, I should have been writing. Children, career, laziness, who knows . . . Overall, the motivation I once had, the drive I once had, disappeared. I no longer felt the passion to do this anymore. Blogging is not my full-time job. Hell, to be honest, it’s not even a hobby (not anymore at least). When you become a grown-up, a mother, a career-oriented individual, your priorities shift from the love of doing this to How will I pay for summer camp? My kid’s new shoes? And when and how can I take, even afford to take, a long overdue girls’ trip?

Then comes the sad truth. The truth I had to face in the mirror. I was spread so thin that I was paying people to work on a blog that I wasn’t even 100 percent invested in. I knew the vision and what I wanted to create, but I didn’t have the energy or desire to do it myself. I managed them poorly and accused them of not knowing what they were doing, partly because I didn’t know, and partly because I wasn’t giving them the tools to succeed.

Since entering my thirties my emotions have been out of control. There is a constant feeling daily of happy, sad, angry. You feel like you’re running out of time, that you’re not where you want to be. The battle with yourself and accomplishing your dreams is a real struggle. You’re put in a vulnerable spot and afraid to face the one person who can change the situation—yourself. I would like to say that I was supposed to be born a boy. I’m not one of those girls who are in tune with her feelings and emotions. I just recently started to get a somewhat regular monthly cycle and that’s a learning curve within itself. Ladies, I give it to you—I don’t see how you all deal with this each month. The mood swings, the body changes, the emotions—oh my God—there are days when I just want to jump ship. LOL!

Anyhoo, I finally manned up and decided enough was enough. I let go of everyone that worked for my blog and decided to start fresh. I did a few design tweaks, created a new Instagram page (be sure to follow us), and changed the name of the site to “a Curvy Virgo.”

What will I be posting?

The main topic of my blog will still be helping creative entrepreneurs turn their passion into profit, but brace yourself, because you will be seeing a lot more of the face behind a Curvy Virgo (me). Outside of sharing personal opinions/experiences there will be a mix of posts on mental health, promoting curves and body positivity, favorite brands, and, of course, spotlighting other creativepreneurs and small businesses. I’m most excited about sharing tips on helping our little ones turn their passion into profit. After all, motherhood is my top priority , so my kids will be included. No refunds! This time around I will be running the blog on my own (with close-family help), so be patient, because we all know running a blog is super time-consuming. I am going to try to post at least once or twice a week.

The Girl Behind a Curvy Virgo

Here are some quick things to know about me so you’re not wondering who this crazy chick venting and ranting 24/7 on here is. I live my life one day at a time; no day is ever the same. People like to call me crazy—I prefer “a free spirit” with an open mind to all life’s wonderful offerings. Most people will say I speak raw and aggressively, probably because I’m convinced, I was supposed to be a boy. If you’re looking for a straightforward, super-mushy, girly-corporate blog then this isn’t the space for you. If you want the unfiltered truth with a side of #youcantmakethisishup then this is the blog for you. Think the professional girl at work who comes in one day with red hair, but can totally slay it at a business meeting.

Favorite Things: Coffee, family time, travel, books, listening to music, watching a movie, #selfcare, and getting my nails done. Ladies, check out my #nailfashion on Instagram highlights. Oh, and I love to entertain. I’m always trying to plan some type of party. #houseGoals is in the works just so I have a backyard to entertain more guests!

Career Life: I analyze numbers all day, because someone took a chance on me and didn’t realize that in my head 100 + 100 = the latest Steve Madden animal print sneakers paired with two dresses from Fashion 2 Figure. So, trying to get me to budget anything is way past my maturity level.

Personal Life: Single-Taken-Married-It’s Complicated.

Hmm . . . let’s go with “It’s complicated,” lol.

Okay, creative bugs, that’s me in a nutshell. And this is my “Hello again” blog. Before I hit you all with blog posts I wanted to give you a brief entry on what the blog is, who I am, and what’s coming soon. I’m excited to share this new direction with you and I hope you come along for the ride.

BTW: I interview cool peeps who are turning their passion into profit so contact me about a spotlight.
