An Inside look at My Black Is Beautiful

This past weekend celebrities stepped out to celebrate My Black Is Beautiful’s (MBIB) tenth anniversary at the Essence Festival in New Orleans. My Black Is Beautiful is a community of African Americans whose goal is to to spark a broader dialogue about black beauty. Through a partnership with Procter & Gamble (P&G), festivalgoers were able to interact and engage in educational experiences that inspired them to be #BeautyEmpowered and sample new P&G products that benefit their hair and skin. Virgo Girl Media was not able to attend, but we’re going to share our favorite takeaways from the event, and the products that were highly recommended.

Hair Care

There was a large variety of products on display for you to use on your hair, so it’s hard to pick just one. One of the most reviewed, and MBIB approved, however, was Herbal Essences’ Hello Hydration shampoo and conditioner. A simple, inexpensive product that is sure to clean your hair and not leave you with buildup.

One exciting new product is from Covergirl’s Queen Collection: Jumbo Gloss Balm. This lipstick is perfect for tinting your lips with color, while moisturizing them with Shea and mango butter.
