How to Manage Your Blog and Side Business While You Are in School

September is back-to-school time for students everywhere! If you are like me, and are starting a new chapter in your life by going back to school, it is important that you manage your time wisely! We share a few tips on how to manage your blog and/or side business while you are a full-time student.

Know Exactly How Much Time You Should Dedicate to Each Project

Whether you are doing work for a client or working on your personal blog, you should set a time limit on how long each particular project will take.

For example, if you are writing a blog and you set a limit of one hour for it to be drafted, make sure you hit this goal! Set a timer when you start writing and eliminate all distractions. This will help you accomplish the goal of writing one blog in an hour, and let you move on to your next task.

Know Exactly What You Should Be Working On

With such a busy schedule, it is crucial that you know exactly what projects are priority. Having a set project list will help you accomplish your work more efficiently.

Plan When You Will Work

Depending on your school schedule, you should be able to set aside a few hours a few times a week to work on your blog or side business. Since you already know exactly what you need to accomplish and how long each task should take, this should be all the time you need to complete your work.

For example, I reserve Monday and Friday mornings from 8:30 to 10:30 to get all my freelance projects organized, started, and completed. By planning the times in the week that I dedicate to my side businesses, I am able to effectively manage my work- and school load and still have time left to spend with my family.
