MEET JAMESETTA ROSS DIGGS CREATOR AND COACH OF SOCIAL LEARNING FOR LITTLES

Please share with us your vision and journey behind creating Social Learning for Littles

A: Social Learning For Littles was born from the passion to support young children with resources that promote social emotional development and build strong character. These resources are based on my experience as an early childhood educator and results based on what I have practiced as a mom.

What was the biggest challenge with starting your own company?

A: Courage and confidence. I did not feel I was competent until I saw the results in my own children.

Are you a full-time or part-time entrepreneur and did you/do you have an exit plan before quitting your 9-5?

A: I work as a full time preschool teacher and work part-time with my business.

Social emotional learning is very important for our little ones especially going through the pandemic; how do your services help children who may be having social anxiety due to COV19?

A: During COVID, I supported my own children with diverse learning books and activities that supported them – focusing on self-awareness, being present, mindful and confident through different circumstances. During difficult circumstances, I help children to stay present with self-regulatory books that help them calm and navigate challenging situations.

What is a typical day like for you? How many hours do you spend on your business? Please breakdown by hours (7:00 am, 8:00 am etc.)

A: My hours vary – Weekly I spend typically 3 hours on my business 8:30pm – 11:30pm (Mondays – Thursdays) and weekends I spend 6 hours on Saturdays/Sunday.

I love the affirmations around your home to encourage your family positive vibes; can you share the inspiration behind this?

A: Affirmations have seen me through difficult moments of my life, during major challenges, difficulties, and circumstances – the power of words spoken in prayer and affirmations have helped me overcome them. I have seen what power the spoken word has and I am creating the same legacy for my family and children.

How important is it for parents to give positive affirmations to their children?

A: Words Matter! The Bible tells me that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Whatever words you speak to your child leave imprints on their emotional development and those words impact their choices, decisions, and actions. It is extremely important to deposit words that empower and uplift children, especially in a world of social malfunction. If you do not establish that foundation, society will.

What systems/programs do you use to help with time management and organization to better your business success?

A: I use google calendar to plan my schedule, canva helps me create content, Facebook business helps me schedule my posts, and I use my Affirmed Notes (my custom personal created journal) to plan, write, and project for my business.

What’s included in the learning kits provided by Social Learning for Littles and how can someone sign up?

A: Our learning kits are theme based (Self-concept, Positive Behavior, Mindfulness, Feelings & Emotions, Prosocial skills, Problem-solving, and Growth Mindset), customized, and on-demand activities for families and home care programs with children (ages 3 – 5).

What goals do you have set for yourself personally as Jamesetta the woman?

A: My immediate goal is finishing my studies,  completing my certification as Parent & Family Coach, and growing into a self-employed mompreneur. Longterm, my goal is to build a multi interconnected business that supports overwhelming moms with young children, and supports children with behavior challenges.

Being a mompreneur, how do you balance the two?

A: It is tough – Being present is one of my keys but also teaching my children skills that enable them to thrive while I work helps a lot.

What is your (1) pro and (1) for being your own boss?

A: I love what I do so much and I keep going because I love it but working a full time job makes it tough to go the extra mile.

What books would you recommend for entrepreneurs to read? Any books that inspire you?

A: In the Company of Great Women by Grace Bonney

Start Something That Matters by Blake MyCoskie

Zero to One by Peter Thiel

Successful Women Think Differently By Valerie Burton

High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard

How did you grow your customer base and following?

A: Through Free Printable Lead Magnet by Facebook Ads

How do you balance social media marketing and the day to day administrative tasks of running a business?

A: I have two days of the week to handle all the background ends and other days for creating – it can get tough sometimes when a link breaks (smile).

How do you protect your peace with clients (business relationships); what boundaries do you set?

A: My relationship is highly professional with my clients. I mostly interact with customers through email marketing and keep the conversation cordial and friendly. I do not recall any personal links.

Do you encourage yourself daily with positive affirmations; do you encourage kid affirmations daily as well?

A: I do, I create an affirmation calendar to keep me going. I make affirmations from my Bible and post it on my office wall. My daughter gets daily affirmation notes from me every morning dropped on her bed to read when she wakes up. The last thing we see before leaving home in the morning is a question that says “what is your power word for today?”

As a mom of multiples, my son/daughter are always going at it (chuckles) like most siblings; what would you recommend for encouraging positive words and behavior between them?

A: Smile – I have my fair share of those. It all depends on the situation – each one is unique. I recommend having them fight and ask for help if they need you to intervene. Or intervene when it escalates beyond ( we do not usually get that).  During night devotions, I ask them what went wrong and what feelings they had during the situations, what could we do next time.

If it is a situation that needs handling right away, I ask them to take a break from the thing that is causing the problem and let’s talk about it, sometimes I give them the option to settle it or lose it, lol.

How do you feel positive thinking improves children’s mindset and confidence?

A: As a mindset and confidence coach, I do believe positive thinking not only improves children’s confidence but also improves their behavior. Our job is to create the opportunities for children to grow more caring, capable and confident everyday, and what better way to do that then by inspiring their thoughts with possibilities.
