Robyn Rihanna Fenty is the best-selling digital singer of all time, on top of being an entrepreneur and global icon. Last October, she broke her seven-year music hiatus with the release of her new single “Lift Me Up” for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie. This came only weeks after she was announced as the headliner of this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. And, of course, she’s still managing her massive beauty brand, Fenty.
Safe to say, Rihanna’s got a lot going on right now.
Now she’s added “mother” to her long resume. Rihanna welcomed her first child, a baby boy, in May 2022. How does she manage motherhood on top of everything else? Well, we’re here to tell you.

1. Lots of Support
The singer has a strong support system to keep her going. Her boyfriend, ASAP Rocky is a dedicated partner who has been by her side since they got together in 2020. She has also always been publicly appreciative of the teams she works with on her professional projects. You know what they say; it takes a village. Whether you’re a mom or a businesswoman (and especially if you’re both), you need a dedicated team of friends, family, and colleagues behind you. Nobody gets to the top all on their own.
2. Hard Work
Say what you want, but Rihanna is no slacker. Even though she took a long hiatus from making new music (so much so that it became a running joke), she spent half her teen years and a lot of her adult life creating hit after hit. Discovered by a music producer at only age 15, Rihanna created seven albums in seven years. That’s a mammoth task that took a lot of drive. If you want to make it big, you need to put in the hours.
3. Prioritizing
As much as Rihanna is committed to her art, she’s only human. Nobody can do everything at once. In business and everything else, you gotta prioritize. She hit pause on her music career to pursue her business ventures like Fenty Beauty, her makeup and skincare line, and Savage x Fenty, her lingerie line. This decision is what catapulted her to her current success.
Right now, her number one priority is parenting her child. She has reportedly said that creating a new album is on the back burner as she focuses on being a new mom.
That goes to show that you can have it all, but you can’t do everything at once. Create a plan, and start with what’s most important.
So There You Have It
Rihanna has shown us that the key to a successful career while being a mother is having a strong support system, knowing your priorities, and old-fashioned hard work. It’s a tried-and-true formula that works for modern working moms, even if they’re superstars.
