‘Swarm Review’: Beyhive Members have officially hit Amazon in the new ‘Swarm’ Series

Is ‘Swarm’ character Ni’Jah based off of Beyonce or not?! Everyone is wondering…

In the seven-series horror comedy, ‘Swarm, the new show has received some attention from “the Beyhive”. Beyonce’s fans otherwise known as the Beyhive does not play when it comes to messing with Queen B.

So, is Swarm really based off real-life Beyonce events?

I was able to binge watch the dark comedy series created by Janine Nabers and Donald Glover this passed weekend. I must say there are several incidents that will have you saying, oh yeah this is based off the diva herself. From the expensive concert tickets to several real-life public incidents that were remade: the infamous biting at a party or elevator scene.

And we all know that Danny Glover, making his return to TV FX’s Emmy-winning “Atlanta” and Beyonce are friends. So, did she give him the Beyonce-Stamp Approval to create the real, but not real show?

There has been no response from Beyonce or her team about the show, but the co-creators do believe the grammy winner has seen it. Hollywood is only but so big and she has and is working with some of the same people from the show.

What is ‘Swarm’ about?

Dominque Fishback plays a young woman whose obsession with pop-star, Ni’Jah (Beyonce-based) gets out of hand. Fishback plays Dre, an awkward woman who resides with her sister, Marissa (Chloe Bailey), in Houston. Each episodes opens with a statement that says “Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events, is intentional”. Hintingly stating that what you are about to view will look familiar – especially if you are a true Beyhive member. The true fans can point out a real fact in every episode.

In the first episode of the show, Dre opens a new credit card from the mail to order her and her sister $1,800 a piece Ni’Jah tickets. Now ladies, we all know the frenzy of whose causing people to not pay their rent because they getting them concert tickets. She will have you making the ultimate sacrifice between food for a month and them tickets.

The show was supposedly birthed based on Beyonce craze fans and the extreme measures they will go too for the pop-diva. Dre (Fishback) turns into a serial-killer killing anyone who isn’t a Ni’Jah fan.

‘Swarm’ Surprising Cast & Writers

Fishback, does an amazing job! She portrayed the crazy stalker murder chick to a “T”. Every scene she shows you a different side of her character that enhances a different emotion. Emmy Award, maybe?! Yes, needed! The show has some graphic and violent scenes. Fishback requested that there be a therapist always present.

“I asked them that they have therapists on set for people to be able to talk to, because although it’s acting, it could be triggering,” Fishback tells Complex. “We don’t know what people are going through in their lives. So I wanted to be conscious and aware of that to make sure people could go home in one piece and feel at peace as much as possible.”

How amazingly awesome is that? More women need to have this kind of awareness around them.

Paris Jackson, daughter of the late Michael Jackson, portrays a stripper who befriends Dre. Seven-time grammy winner Billie Eilish makes her acting debut as a cult leader in one of Dre’s travels. Malia Obama, daughter of former president Barak Obama landed herself a full-time writing gig on “Swarm”. How proud must the Obama’s be!  Malia co-wrote the fifth episode, “Girl, Bye” which is one of the more insane parts of the series.

Does ‘Swarm” warrant the buzz?

The question has become is ‘Swarm’ a great show or is ‘Swarm’ just hype? The popular Prime Video series has a star flooded cast that’s based off the incidents from a popstar who just so happens to be headed on tour in a few months.

I for one loved the show. I couldn’t speed through the 30–40 minute episodes fast enough each time wanting more. The final two episodes will really take you by surprise as Fishback explores her sexuality. Without giving to much away this role explores her range of acting ability. I hope to see her in other things after this – perhaps even a ‘Swarm Season 2’.

Due to the hype, I am sure you won’t stop seeing the buzz or commercials about the highly anticipated show, but tell me: Will you be watching? I also would like to know how many of you will be attending the Renaissance Tour kicking off May 10, 2023?
