The Splatter Room Experience | My Review

Everyone needs to get creative once in a while to let off a little steam—so why not get creative with paint?

As a mom of three and business owner, you best believe I make the space for self-care so I can unwind and pour back into myself. While I have my favorite ways of doing so, I like to experiment and that led me to The Splatter Room here in NYC.

Down in Astoria, Queens is a unique place where parents and their kids can jump into white suits, grab some vibrant paints, and use whatever they want to splash paint all over a room or themselves. Why? Because it’s a great way to get colorful, creative, and have fun letting loose as you get messy with various neon paints!

The Pros:

The owner of The Splatter Room, Ashley, was such a kind spirit as she ensured our experience was unique with plenty of fun vibes. You can bring your own paint or use what they provide, but here’s the kicker…you aren’t using a paintbrush to paint!

You can use drumsticks, paintball guns, and much more to spread the paint all over the splatter rooms or each other. I had so much fun getting inventive with how I wanted to tackle each room and activity to get the paint all over the place. It was a great way to let go and enjoy myself after a long week.

The Cons:

The only downsides I experienced were how quickly the provided paint and activities ran out. While you can purchase more, the activities and paint lasted about 15 to 20 minutes. If they had more activities or rooms to do within an hour, or shorter timed activities, I don’t think this would be an issue.

The Grade: A-

If you’re in Queens and want to splash some paint for some family fun, I recommend you head over to The Splatter Room. Tickets are $50 per adult and $30 per kid, ages 6 and up. And don’t forget to bring your own face coverings and shower cap to avoid your clothes and hair getting painted, too! Check out their website for details here.
