Triple-Threat Lil Mama Drops New Song “Sausage”: A 90s-Style Video

Lil Mama is back. The twenty-five-year-old star of CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story has released her new single, “Sausage,” which debuted on World Star Hip Hop, and the music heads are commenting at full blast. Love it or hate it, “Sausage” has a positive message: wrap it up. Yes, ladies and gents, Lil Mama is blending some TLC style and Missy Elliott flavor to send a much-needed message to our community about having safe sex. The video has over two million views and counting from just two days ago.

The lyrics begin:

Eggs, bacon, grits
You better use a condom if you taking that
All these broke niggas that be on my
Need to hop off

Lil Mama is using her platform to speak about the importance of wrapping it up and encouraging safe sex. For her haters out there who will undoubtedly have something to say, you can’t argue with her message! Naturally, Twitter peeps chimed in on the #lilmamasausage video, some with harsh reviews, but some with positive reactions. Even Missy Elliott, Solange Knowles, and Azealia Banks praised the comeback single.

Hear me out. The video is pretty dope. Not many artists can pull off a throwback of the nineties and make you feel as though you are actually back in the nineties. She did that and WON (I’m using my Tamar Braxton voice here)! The choreography is nonstop as she dances through the streets of Brooklyn. The fashion is well . . . something, but she pulls it off wearing a mix of Ninja Turtle, an homage to Lisa Lopes’s style, and a Beyoncé-type hairdo. Lil Mama pays tribute to many artists, including Wu-Tang Clan, Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson, and Madonna, and even throws in a Jamaican dancehall–style scene.  “Although Lil Mama pays homage to several artists and many genres, the video’s diversity along with the songs effectiveness, offers a fresh style and uniqueness that allows her own identity to come shining through”, says Well Known Tone of Trendsetter01 Management.

In the end, the video is a bit all over the place at times but she‘s having fun, sending a positive message, and of course bigging up her hometown of Brooklyn. We reached out to her old Brooklyn-native friends from Coop-Ville Entertainment and they commented, “Best New Video of the Year Award” says Margiela. “The creativity and dance moves are on point, says El Heffe. The brothers at Coop-Ville always supported and believed in her diverse talent and artistry as well as her ability to make good for Booklyn; Lil Mama  stand up”, says a proud I Know Mueller and Walker the Don!
