Mind Your Business, Drink Water, Let Go Of The Fear: 5 Keys To Eternal Happiness

It’s no secret that life can get challenging. Because of that, sometimes we deal with stress, anxiety, and depression that hinder us from living our dream lives.

I’m reminded of my late grandmother who was a woman who endured the challenges of life and still loved and lived it to the fullest. This blog post is dedicated to her memory, and I want to share with you five ways she—and now you!—let go of fear and discovered eternal happiness no matter what.

1. Buy a home at any age

Becoming a homeowner is a big decision, but it’s one that can fulfill you with a sense of pride as you now own something that you can enjoy and pass down to your children. My grandmother bought her first home at the age of 70-years-old, so it’s never too late to own a home!

2. Let your children grow up

You may fear that when your little ones become bigger, they may move out and leave you all alone. Here’s the thing, mama: Your children will always need you. I was close with my grandmother and relied on her wisdom and kindness often as there’s nothing like that kind of love. Your children love you and the sooner you let them grow up, the sooner you’ll uncover happiness whether they live at your home or not.

3. Don’t let everyone’s opinion upset you

This one is a biggie, mama. While it’s important to value the opinions of people you respect, not everyone’s opinion should weigh on you and your decisions. This is because some people simply don’t have our best interests at heart. You’ll feel lighter and more in control of yourself when you realize the only opinions that matter come from those who care about you.

4. Unleash your passion and try new things

You’re never too old to experience new things and explore your passions! My grandmother was one who didn’t let her age get in the way of a good time. She would go to a jazz festival every year and enjoy herself like it was the first time.

My grandmother would also find ways to adapt to new things and not compromise her happiness. For example, during the first year of the pandemic, she, like many, had to work from home. She hated the idea at first as she was an outgoing person and enjoyed working in the office. But she learned to work remotely and loved it!

Think of something you’ve been interested in trying but maybe felt afraid to try…and try it anyway!

5. Make new friends

It’s so important to have people in your life who love you—but that love doesn’t have to always be romantic. My grandmother didn’t find love in a man, but she did in her friend. She made a best friend and walking buddy to enjoy the outdoors with, and their relationship served a great purpose: Bond with the people who care about you. My grandmother’s days were structured to help her family in need, but with her friend and walking buddy, she found happiness helping herself, too.

  1. This brought tears to my eyes! I love how your grandmother lived her life to the fullest. I want to live my life exactly like that. Age is only a number and I don’t want it or society to define my paths.

  2. Wow, great share! I’m 50 years old and have never owned a home. I always thought I was too old, but after reading this I am inspired to follow my dreams of buying a home. It may take another five years to save for the down payment lol but I won’t stop until I get it.

  3. I try to be happy everyday by finding purpose in my life that makes me want to smile. On some days its hard, but I try really hard to wake up smiling and go to bed smiling because I’m blessed to celebrate life.

  4. My children are both heading to college and I’m fearing being an empty nester. I am looking forward to having my time back though lol. To make me happy I want to write a book and find a new hobby.
